The Communications Content Editor plans, organizes, edits, and structures content for the company's featured blog. This position works closely with the Public Relations and teams across the Lab to ensure the company's various communication platforms are consistent with Linden Lab's corporate goals and messaging.
The primary objectives of this role:
- Work with teams to evolve and expand a unique leadership voice for Linden Lab and Second Life and evangelize key messages through featured blog posts, executive visionary pieces, podcasts and influential guest writers
- Develop an annual editorial calendar for featured blog in alignment with PR calendar, Linden Lab's strategic initiatives and Community events
- Research and explore emerging trends to create a "big picture" resource for both the Second Life community and audiences that may not be aware of virtual worlds and their potential.
- Unearth and highlight interesting consumer and trend stories that can be further explored in "big picture" conversations
- Drive readership of the blog through networks and audiences outside of the virtual world space to raise awareness of the various ways that Second Life is being used and can be used.
- Monitor blogosphere and Twitter keeping team up to date on relevant news, themes and memes.
Qualifications:
- 3+ years professional experience in online community marketing and/or working on the marketing of a consumer-focused web property, 2+ years of this experience should be online social marketing experience.
- A mixture of marketing and editorial experience
- Prior Web 2.0 experience and a deep appreciation of internet and technology
- Proven ability to plan and execute resourcefully, with minimal supervision, execute multiple marketing programs simultaneously, work effectively in a fast-paced, fluid environment
- Strong communication and writing and editing capabilities
- Experience developing and executing integrated communication plans
- Commitment to the Tao of Linden and the work philosophy driving and supporting the success of Linden Lab
Education & Experience:
- Bachelors in Journalism, English, Marketing, PR or related degree
